Hamburg, Germany.. ’nuff said, amirite?!

Before my trip to Hamburg, two of my friends couldn’t stop raving about how great the city was and how much I would like it. Personally, I didn’t believe them for a second. My biases for Berlin made me apprehensive about Hamburgs’ greatness, but the aesthetics alone proved me wrong.

It’s safe to say that my weekend in Hamburg was the best I’ve had in Germany thus far. Everything about this city had me in awe. For example, the dope pictures below.

I LOVED Hamburg for the following reasons:

  • There was a high population of African-American people – I really appreciate feeling like less of a minority, which is why diversity is huge to me
  •  The city is in a great location with amazing views of the harbor
  • REEPERBAHN – the “most sinful mile,” is filled with a plethora of club, bars, brothels, whatever your heart desires
  • Public transportation via boat – in Hamburg, one can take a BOAT to get from point A to point B. Yes, there’s trains and buses as well, but how cool would it be to take a BOAT to work every day?

Besides the above-mentioned reasons why Hamburg is exquisite, it was also ranked 10th by the Economist Intelligence Unit in (www.thelocal.de) as one of the world’s most “livable” cities. This is due to Hamburg’s healthcare, infrastructure, education, history, and sense of stability.

Fun fact: Beatles members John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison caught the eye of their future manager Brian Epstein by playing at various bars and clubs in Hamburg between 1960-1962. So, basically, Hamburg was a huge stepping stone for the Beatles’ success.

Am I the only one that thinks it’s really funny to call the city of Hamburg, hamburger?
